Henry's Future as a Gunner

Thierry Henry has again committed to his future with Arsenal, promising to end his career as a Gunner. There always seems to be speculation that he's leaving and according to this report he's "starting to get sick of repeating" his allegiance to the Gunners.

He hasn't been right since the World Cup and he admitted after the World Cup ended that it would take him about six months to be fit. With the crazy schedules that footballers contend with now he wasn't given any amount of time to allow his body to rest and heal. We'll miss him while he's out for the rest of the season.

I think we're going to see more and more injuries given the longer seasons and number of cup games that are scheduled. Arsene Wenger complained about his players competing in their national teams' matches last fall. He likened it to someone taking your car in the middle of the night, running around crazy with it and returning it in the morning with no gas. That sounds about right.

Arsenal This Week

It was a heartbreaking loss yesterday. Benni McCarthy's goal in the 87th minute has eliminated Arsenal from the FA Cup. The FA Cup result combined with their loss to Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final has made for a disappointing week for the Gunners.

Arsenal plays Reading this Saturday, ko at 9am central. We'll be missing some strong players from the squad:

A raft of injuries and suspensions left Wenger few options when he sat down to pick his team for this tricky North-West trip. Thierry Henry (foot), Tomas Rosicky (groin), Abou Diaby (foot), Justin Hoyte (hamstring), Johan Djourou (ankle), Mathieu Flamini (foot) and Robin van Persie (foot) were all ruled out. Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure started three-game suspensions after their red cards in Cardiff. And Cesc Fabregas was rested after a punishing schedule.
Good luck Gunners. We'll be at Fado cheering you on.
